The system was so successful that government institutions such as Housing Authority, Housing Society and ASD Architectural Services Department visited to learn more about our breakthrough platform. The nature of steel products causes interference to many forms of data transmission networks. We had to user fibre optics to connect the office and the production floor.
Because the Shiu Wing Steel plant was using a propriety product (ANSALDO) for production monitoring and control that was limited to read only displays, thus preventing gathering of data for further processing and analysis.
The production floor network is already a high-speed fiber optics with thousands of distributed hardware PLC nodes in place for gathering real-time production data, we use dbclic to link up the production floor with their offices and warehouse to provide seamless sharing of information, via a software PLC. dbclic can now capture selected production data and transfer it to the dbclic database. Up to the minute production reports can now be generated and read by engineers and management over the intranet system.
Their quality control testing were running on DOS version of proprietary software that are attached to the testing equipment. After making changes we were able capture the data and producing mill certificates and stockist certificates as required by the government.
